With the aim of facilitate and speed up the submission of the nationality procedure, the Portuguese Government set up a digital platform that allows Lawyers and Solicitors to submit nationality procedures since 17th February.
Similarly to what already happens with the Commercial and Land registry. The authorized representative of the applicants will be able to file the application without having to go physically to the registry offices, only by using their digital certificates.
At the moment, the service comprises the cases of citizens over the age of 18 years old, who wish to obtain Portuguese nationality due to the facto f having legal residence in Portugal for at least five years or because are married with a Portuguese national. Progressively until 17th March, the service will be extended to all types of nationality applications.
