On June 20, during the parliamentary committee, the Socialist Party (PS) submitted a proposal to amend the wording of the “Mais Habitação” legislative proposal, no longer eliminating the Golden Visa programme in its entirety.
The real estate investment and the capital transfer deposit routes will be ending, however the highly attractive investment funds route will continue to be an option for foreign investors.
The final wording of the diplomas will now proceed to be voted in the parliamentary commission on July 12 and, finally, the final global vote will occur on July 19.
After this, the diplomas will then be promulgated by the President of the Republic and published in the “Diário da República”.
Based on the above information, it is expected that it will still be possible to submit new applications to the Golden Visa program (under the current regime) until late July/early August.
